Being a Black college student can be hard financially and the numbers show it. For example, Black men have the lowest college graduation rate at 40%. College Tuition insurance could be a way to cover ourselves in the case of needing to leave school. Here’s how it works.

College tuition insurance covers tuition and other college expenses in the case of an emergency situation that ends in an unexpected withdrawal from school. This insurance is important because the school in question may not always have students' backs.

Schools aren’t exactly keen on refunding students money when they leave school. Depending on when a student leaves, schools may reimburse a significant amount. Generally refunds are given to students leaving within the first two months. But what about AFTER that?

Most schools won’t give ANY money back after the fifth week of classes. And if a student lives on campus or in other types of university-provided housing, there’s usually no refund at all for housing funds.

Black students face so many pressures in college. From dealing with social and racial pressures at institutions to having to work to provide for family, there are a variety of reasons Black students may need to withdraw. This insurance can help safeguard against losing all of their investment.
