The recent Supreme Court reversal of Roe v. Wade created immense controversy.  People are afraid of the long-lasting consequences that this Supreme Court decision could create. How does this affect our pockets?

One impact is the current high demand for contraceptive products. Consumers are attempting to buy them in bulk as the court may target these products next.

However, something is stopping consumers from stocking up, even when they do find products available for purchase.

Major pharmacies like CVS and Rite Aid are placing limits on purchases of contraceptive pills. Other pharmacies, like Walgreens, have halted contraceptive deliveries altogether, opting for in-store purchases with a limit of three per customer.

How does this affect our community?

Black Americans are less likely to use contraceptives, and  Black women make up 40% of women who get abortions in the United States. Access to contraceptives could help curb that number and keep more of us safe and in control of our bodies. Limiting access could make prices higher AND hurt our health.

These limits are expected to last for a while. It’s important for us to be aware of prices and plan for our health and futures, especially if those plans don’t include children.
