It’s damn hard to find decent employment in general, let alone a high paying  job. Corporate America frequently undervalues our skills, brilliance, and work ethic.

But these slick tips can help advance Black careers and potentially set us up for promotions and pay increases.

#1: Network

Networking is crucial for job mobility. It allows a person to make connections on every level, and it’s the leading way to get career gold: referrals.

#2 Seek Mentorship

Mentors are invaluable assets for career advancement. They offer guidance in communication, conflict resolution, and networking. They also help us hone skills and work with us to overcome obstacles.

#3 Be Authentic

Corporate America isn’t geared toward us, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be authentic at work. Authenticity creates a sense of belonging, trust, and comfort among job teams. It also promotes confidence and honesty in the workplace.

No matter what corporate America would have us believe, we are worthy and capable of high-paying, high-level jobs. Just remember that how we get treated is no indication of our worth.
