A Black scientist just created a $10 million venture fund to invest in Black entrepreneurs! Here's how she was inspired to spark change for our people.

Kathryn Finney embarked on a journey to invest in Black ideas because she was amazed how hard it is for Black people to get funding for their businesses!

In fact only 2% of PPP loans, the program that saved many businesses during the pandemic, were given to Black folks. But Finney is working hard to create a world where Black people can depend on each other for help.

She’s spent years demanding investment equity for Black businesses and speaking about the racism Black people in finance and tech jobs experience. The solution she has in mind? It’s simple.

Money! Our lack of access to capital has made it extremely difficult for us to create successful businesses and become self-sufficient. But when Black investors, like Finney, financially support our ideas and give us the best resources to build lasting businesses, we can liberate ourselves from depending on white investment or assistance.

A Black woman financially supporting her own communities furthers our opportunity of building a strong Black community through self-sufficiency. When we achieve positions of power, we have to help each other gain access to more money and more opportunities. We are stronger together!
