Describing herself as “not your typical business owner,” Donata Joseph knew that she was here for a reason. However, in 2013, right after being fired from her corporate bank job, she wasn’t sure what it was. She did khow, however, that she and her 3 children would somehow be okay.

What came next for her changed everything.

Joseph created a non-profit called  Adding Doses Of Hope Daily. The organization that connects individuals and families with mental health resources.

But her faith, determination and nurturing soul still knew there was something more she needed to do.

The picture of a burning candle ignited another idea in her head beyond her non-profit. With just $7, Joseph began making candles and soaps, focusing on the healing properties of the ingredients. She experimented for months and got her esthetician license.

She sold her products to family and friends.  The word spread quickly and Joseph went viral!

Seven dollars and seven years later, Joseph’s idea was a seven-figure business. Using all natural and vegan ingredients ethically sourced from Haiti - from which she is descended, her business has grown and thrived.

Joseph used her struggles during unemployment to turn her ideas into reality. Is there a skill or creative idea that inspires you?
