From generational trauma and medical racism to wealth disparities, Black American health is the worst in the country. Heart health is a particular issue which is why Adelanwa Adesanya is using his genius to benefit our community.

Born in Nigeria, Adesanya came to the U.S. to study his passion for engineering. He lives by the principle of “Start with empathy.” This philosophy has led him to invest his time - and money - into different industries, including an undergrad exchange marketplace called GivePals

But his empathy didn’t stop there.

In 2013, after graduating with his Masters in Engineering and Industrial Management, Adesanya turned his attention and business acumen to healthcare - particularly cardiovascular health. As of a 2018 study, African Americans are 30 times more likely to die from a cardiovascular-related event or ailment.

That’s where Moving Analytics comes in.

Adesanya co-founded Moving Analytics in 2013. The goal behind it is to foster better preventive cardiovascular health and care after heart attack or surgery. It has become the #1 virtual and remote cardiac rehab program in the country.

Medical racism is insidious and frequently leads to higher mortality rates for our community. Allowing his empathy to guide his knowledge and listening to what his community needed in care helped Adelanwa Adesanya to create a program that is helping countless Black people in medicine.
