The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 goes back on the word of 2021’s act. This updated legislation will instead provide climate and economic reforms for all races and provide no additional aid to victims of past discrimination.

Many Black farmers are up in arms over this intended policy reversal. Critics of the original program designed to help Black farmers say that forgiving loans for farmers based on race is unconstitutional; a far cry from the reality that legislation like this can help address the financial harms done toward Black farmers for decades.

The National Black Farmers Association is calling on farmers to push for a farm foreclosure moratorium while pushing for Congress to debate real solutions to this issue.
