Poor Black Taxpayers Face Audits The Rich Often Escape

Donald Trump’s tax returns were released, and he didn’t pay taxes for a whole decade. He paid only $750 in income taxes in 2016 and 2017!

Working people are outraged the president pays less than they do, but there’s something important to realize about this.

Many wealthy corporations ALSO don’t pay up. At least 60 major companies did not pay ANY income tax as recently as 2018, according to the Center for Public Integrity. It’s not a new trend either, and it’s getting worse. Who’s doing it is even more frustrating.

Corporations like Amazon, Netflix, Chevron, Delta, and many more aren’t paying taxes!

While they rake in BILLIONS and pay no taxes, the impoverished Black Belt area in the South is the most heavily audited area in the nation. This isn’t a coincidence.

Systemic racism has poor Black people paying more than corporations – that also refuse to pay employees a living wage or provide healthcare!

Based on inflation, the minimum wage should be at least $12 an hour! This is massively hurting our communities.

We’re expected to pay a huge chunk of our income – but rich people like Trump get to exploit loopholes and escape paying their fair share. It’s just another way that our capitalist system is set up to make it extremely difficult for regular people to ever get ahead.
