Buying groceries on a budget can be challenging these days, with the current high inflation rate. Americans are looking for ways to save money on groceries and get the food they need – here are a few ways to maximize savings during your next shopping trip.

Planning out meals for the week can help to save on unnecessary food spending. Make a list of just the essential items you need for the week then go shopping and stick to the list.

But how can you take that plan and turn it into savings?

Coupons are the classic cost-saving tools that still work great today. There are numerous websites and apps like Coupons.com and RetailMeNot where shoppers can find coupons for a variety of grocery stores. Combine this tip with your weekly grocery list planning to find the best savings on food items.

Don’t look over generic brand products. More often than not, generic products are comparable if not better than name brand products – making them a solid affordable alternative.

We all need to eat despite the outrageous grocery store prices. Saving on food takes a bit of strategy and planning, but take heart:  there are so many creative ways to eat well AND save. Bon appetit!
